Biography:

Originally from Montana, Baret moved to Oregon to pursue a degree in Sociology and Anthropology at Lewis and Clark College, focusing on social safety nets and community development. Since graduating, she has been excited to continue this concentration by joining the Proud Ground team!

She has a wealth of experience centered on displaced or unhoused persons. This has ranged from fundraising for a children's home, volunteering at multiple housing shelters, and working with refugee families to find and settle into new homes. These experiences have imbued her with the belief that homeownership is a central aspect of community building. When families are not made to move regularly due to the instability of renting, they can grow roots in an area: their kids can stay in the same schools, they can meet their neighbors, and plant a garden (growing literal roots). As the Outreach Coordinator for Proud Ground, Baret plans to approach outreach through community building and engagement.
