Richard
Richard is on the go as soon as he gets up until he goes to bed. Even when relaxing at home he is moving around his house. It wasn't always this way. Richard, a Community Vision, Inc. client, used to live in a small apartment and it was becoming more and more difficult for him to use the stairs; his rent increased yearly; and he was unable to make changes inside his apartment to accommodate his needs. Now that he owns his own home with the help of Proud Ground, Richard is able to customize his home to match what he likes and needs.
His new home gives him more space and freedom. Richard's favorite things are looking out the window, watching the neighborhood go by (animals, babies, joggers, etc). Richards likes the sound of his shoes on the hardwood floors.
Being a homeowner has given Richard more independence and a lot more smiles. Owning his own home is huge for him; it opens the door to many new experiences that he would not otherwise be able to have; simple things that we don't think of like having dinner at a picnic table in his own backyard, gardening, a sense of community with his neighbors and stability.
One of the most surprising things about Richard owning his own home is the fact that it was possible. Richard’s owning a home was an easy process from start to finish. Proud Ground staff were friendly, informative and easy to work with.
