Proud Ground's 10th anniversary and 100th home get some great press!

OREGONIAN--Proud Ground has been creating permanently affordable housing for a decade now, working to keep Portland from becoming San Francisco or Vail, Colo., where many working in those cities can't afford to live in them.

Proud Ground is a new name -- until recently, the nonprofit went by Portland Community Land Trust -- but its mission hasn't changed: making home ownership a possible dream for low-income people and keeping it affordable for successive owners.

"We're not investing in just one family moving into one home," said Jesse Beason, Proud Ground executive director. "We're investing in the whole community by keeping it a place where people who provide vital services, such as teachers and beginning nurses, can afford to live."
