ways to give
"I like knowing I can plant a biannual and know I will be around to see it bloom." - Michelle, Proud Ground homeowner.
We hear regularly from homeowners like Michelle: homeowners who moved repeatedly when rents were raised; who yearned for a garden; who needed space and stability in order to start a family; who were tired of white walls and deferred repairs. There is an abundance of "why I pursued homeownership" stories, but all of the homeowners we work with share a common goal: a home to call their own.
We know that the benefit is not just to the individual families, though those benefits are enormous - stability, equity, growth. The community also benefits. Children of homeowners are more likely to own homes and attain higher levels of education than children of renters (1). Owning a home gives residents a stake in the community and a sense of rootedness in their neighborhoods (2). A large presence of homeowners in a neighborhood increases the number and diversity of businesses in the neighborhood and stimulates economic investment (3). (1. Boehm and Schlottmann 2. And we need more of it. That is why Proud Ground is excited about our future, as we work to serve more people, in more neighborhoods, with a more diverse, greener range of housing options. Your support will help ensure we meet our goals - and will help more families realize the dream of homeownership
We invite you to take part in the dream and donate to Proud Ground today.
