Proud Ground holds free, one-hour information sessions each month. This is your opportunity to learn about how to buy a home through Proud Ground, and about the homes we have for sale. Sign up for a free session in your neighborhood by clicking here. |
Join Proud Ground staff to talk about what your dream for a home is and to make a home buying plan. We can connect you to other resources in our community that can help you save for a downpayment and get your finances in order. |
If you decide to move forward, you will fill out an application. That way, you'll be the first to know when homes are available. |
You should attend an all-day home buyer education class; fees for the class range from $25 to $50. This class is offered through several nonprofits in the Portland metropolitan area, including Portland Housing Center , NAYA Family Center , Hacienda CDC , African American Alliance for Homeownership and Open Door Counseling Center . |
When you see a home you want, let us know. Then, you'll meet with a lender (we can suggest several who are approved) and get pre-approved for a loan. Click here to see a list of Proud Ground's current approved lenders. |
It's important to us that you understand the ins and outs of our program, so Proud Ground staff will meet with you individually to provide more in-depth review of all important documents. You'll also meet independently with an attorney who works for you to review documents as well. |
Congratulations! At closing, you will cross all the t's and dot all the i's and then, the keys are yours! |
